Jazz: Influence of Jazz on Music



Like many genres and styles, Jazz has had its tough and intricate beginnings in the world of music. There are several things that have played in the development of Jazz such as geographic location or the time period. Jazz developed in the early 20th century with a heavy emphasis from African Americans in the New Orleans area, influenced by african rhythms. It is a blend of several different types of music like blues and ragtime.  


Jazz developed into a variety of styles including traditional jazz, bebop, swing, cool jazz, jazz rock and many more.


Some key figures during the jazz movement include Louis Armstrong, Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Ella Fitzgerald, and Bille Holiday. 

Billie Holiday (Eleanora Fagan) was born on April 7,1915. She sang genres like jazz and swing.

Louis Armstrong was born on August 4,1901. He is well-known in genres like jazz and dixieland.

Ella Fitzgerald was born on April 25, 1917. She is well-known in genres like swing, bebop, and jazz.

Miles Davis was born on May 26, 1926. Well-known in Jazz.

Charlie Parker was born on August 19, 1920. The genres he specializes in are jazz and bebop.


Like many genres, jazz has acquired money through selling records and tours.
