ORIGIN
- Gabriella ‘Gabi’ Wilson was born in Vallejo, CA on June 27, 1997
- She got her start as a ‘child prodigy’. She can sing and play the guitar, piano, bass and drums
- She first appeared on the Today Show covering ‘If I Ain’t Got You’ by Alicia Keys. She participated in Radio Disney’s The Next BIG Thing Competition when she was 12
- She signed to RCA under Sony when she was 14 and released ‘Something to Prove’ under her real name
- She re-emerged under the alias, H.E.R. and released a self titled mixtape. H.E.R explains why she goes under this alias, “I am a voice for women who feel like they’re alone in these situations. This project came from emotion, and that’s what I want it to be about – not what I look like or who I’m with, but the raw emotion and support for women. I feel like this is the era of the anti-star. I really just wanted it to be about the music, and get away from, ‘Who is she with?’ and ‘What is she wearing?
CAREER
- H.E.R. released her self-titles E.P. on September 9, 2016
- She released volume 2 on June 16, 2017
- H.E.R later combined both volumes to form an E.P.
- She released volume 1 of the E.P. titled, ‘I Used to Know H.E.R’ on August 3, 2018
- She released volume 2 on November 2, 2018
- ‘I Used to Know H.E.R’ is the prelude to her upcoming debut album
WHAT'S NEXT
- H.E.R. has accomplished so much in such a short amount of time. She has won two Grammy awards before she has released an official album
- H.E.R. is only getting started. It is very clear that she is focused on her music and it’s delivery. You can see her performances how passionate she is.
- H.E.R’s music is very relatable and powerful because it is under an alias. It allows you to truly focus on the music and the art
- She is incredibly talented and I can’t wait for her debut album to come out and for her to continue to shine.
