About
Hello my name is Parker Chambers, a second-year health science major on the pre-medicine track from Pasadena, California. I am a driven and empathetic student at Spelman College, passionate about serving marginalized communities and making a positive impact in the field of mental health. Having personally experienced and overcome my own mental challenges while witnessing firsthand the impact of mental health stigma within my own community, I am dedicated to a career in psychiatry to help others on their journey toward mental well-being.
As a future psychiatrist, I envision a world where mental health is destigmatized and prioritized in every community. I am driven to provide culturally competent and inclusive mental healthcare services, understanding the unique challenges faced by individuals in the Black community.
Since I was a child, I actively participated in some form of singing or acting, especially in a theater sense! In elementary school I did musicals and plays, continuing that into my middle and high school years! My favorite roles that I’ve played are Annie in Annie and The Minstrel in Once Upon a Mattress! I wanted to take Survey of African American Music because of my love of music and I look forward to learning more!
