Techno music was influenced by disco music. A fun fact is that techno music is short for technology music. This genre originated in Detroit, Michigan in the 1980s. Techno used electric instruments, drum machines, computers, samplers, and track mixers. A listener is able to identify techno music by smaller bass drops. The creators of techno music is Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson, and Juan Atkins. Derrick May is an electric musician from Belleville, Michigan. All three of them is known as Belleville Three. The earlier techno artists were influenced by new wave and disco musicians. African Americans have left their mark on every music genre. I never knew that black people contributed the techno music. Some well known artists are Jeff Mills, Carl Cox, Belleville Three, and Green Velvet.
