Spelman College Glee Club Performance by Janae Shaw

On Monday, October 23rd, 2023, the Survey of African American Music Class had the opportunity to watch the Spelman Glee Club along with the Morehouse College Glee Club in their performance with the Tabernacle Choir, which consisted of about 400 people the past weekend. The performance was set on a larger stage with Members of the Spelman Glee Club in their black gowns with pearls and the Morehouse Glee Club in the Club suit jackets. In sections, each group would perform and then come together as an ensemble. Each song that the Spelman Glee Club sang was magnificent, the pitch was excellent, and each person blended beautifully. The diction of each word and syllable was clear. My favorite song that was sung was “What a Wonderful World” by Stevie Wonder. This song was sung in collaboration with Morehouse Glee Club. The performance was spectacular, and I can not wait to see what is in store for the Spelman College Glee Club of the 2023-2023 Year.
