While watching the glee performance I recognized a few things. The adult performers had little if any black members apart of the ceremony. There was no diversity in comparison of black performers versus black performers. also, the songs performed by the adult and mostly white musicians were really slow and in a way uncultured. Morehouse and Spelman’s glee club performers did an extraordinary job. they not only performed beautifully, but they also added some flavor to the concert. The glee club gave the audience a taste of negro spiritual music. High pitched voices and the therapeutic choice of instruments were performed to perfection. Listening to the glee clubs performances made me feel more included and a sense of belonging. Overall I enjoyed the concert and the contribution of negro spiritual music used through the performance.
