Who is Ice Spice?
Ice Spice, born Isis Gaston is a 23-year-old rapper who has risen to fame this past year in the music industry. Ice Spice was born and raised in the Bronx, New York. She grew up playing volleyball at her high school in Yonkers. Ice Spice grew up with a father who was an underground rapper, so she was exposed to rap at a very young age.
Rise to Fame
Ice Spice began gaining attention in the summer of 2022 when her song “Munch” became popular. The song gained its popularity through Tik Tok, where viewers saw clips of the song and immediately took a liking to it. After the success of “Munch”, Ice was picked up by industry professionals, signing with Capitol Records. Though Ice Spice is no lyricist, she is also no one-hit-wonder. The songs that followed also received a lot of attention, going viral on Tik Tok as well. So much so, that her song “Princess Diana” gained the attention of the Hip-Hop superstar, Nicki Minaj. Soon after, the two collaborated to create a remix to the popular song. Ice Spice is not just loved for her music, but her look as well. She is well known for her ginger afro, beautiful features, and magnetic sex appeal. Though some criticize the value of her place in the music industry, Ice Spice and her music is loved by many, and all can agree that her catchy phrases and unique choice of beats will always make you want to get up, move, and have a good time.
