The emergence of the Hip-Hop genre occurred in the 1970s by a young man named, Clive Campbell, in Bronx, New York. Clive Campbell created the genre based on his Jamaican tradition. Hip-Hop became extremely popular in the years between the 1990s and 2000s. The 90s is when hip hop artists began to draw on the black power visual culture for racial protest within their own music.
