Artificial intelligence (AI) is a broad field of computer science concerned with creating intelligent machines capable of doing activities that normally require human intelligence. AI enables machines to mimic, if not outperform, the capabilities of the human mind. They can execute tasks generally associated with human cognitive functions, such as voice interpretation, gameplay, and pattern recognition. They often learn how to do so by sifting through enormous volumes of data in search of patterns to model in their own decision-making.
The introduction of a slew of new artificial intelligence tools for creating art has made it more accessible than ever, and the strength and capabilities of these tools are only growing. The application of artificial intelligence in a variety of disciplines has resulted in the replacement of many employment, resulting in a more competitive job market. The usage of creatives’ works to train these models sparked accusations of art theft, as image outputs mimicked notable artists’ styles without their permission. AI is now being used more frequently in the fields of generational art and animation, with the ultimate result being similarly prepared and ready in a considerably shorter time frame. This has fueled speculation that AI art may soon supplant human creativity.
Though AI may replace some components of the creative process, AI cannot replace the key creative decision-making part. For example, an AI system cannot be educated to create art in response to various worldly conditions because that is something only humans can see and act on.
