The genre of Soul marks Black America’s transition it the mixing of Blues and African rythyms. Rising to to the spotlight in the 1960’s and reaching its prominence in the 1970s, its popularity still holds true today. With each decade, soul music would adapt to the sound of that time, but at its base, the rhythmic variations n coombination with Blues still remained. Soul music is marked by its heavy empahsis on the singer while the music accentuates. Soul music was very imoactful during the Civil Rights Movement of the sixties and the Black Power Movement of the seventies. Soul music influences tat style which many singers emulate today. Soul music is where Black music became associated with music, deepening Black Culture. Without the contributions of Soul music, Black Movements would have lacked serious art contributions.
