What Difference Does It Make?

African American music such as negro spirituals has united black people and created a sense of kinship. Negro spirituals incorporated a sense of community among slaves as they were going through hardships. More specifically speaking, African American music has made major contributions and has really evolved through the years. Rap music specifically has played a major role in African American music. Rap music has been used in many cases as positive source of expression, but in other cases it has been known to hyper sexualize women and reinforce toxic masculinity. Often times women are talked about as objects and men are represented as tough and powerful. This is a great example of how music has made a difference in society alone. Music in general has contributed to the development of a lot of genres of music and has also been used as a model of creativity.
