What About the Blues?

Originally blues came from the genre of folk music. The blues revival came during the 1960’s when popular African American musicians became more relevant in the music industry. Women in Blues sung about two main things sex and sadness. Blues was later made into dance music so that musicians and singers could makes profit. There was also something called race records which were made by black people for black people. 

Popular Artist in the Blues 

Blind Lemon Jefferson- Blues and gospel singer who was born in Texas and then moved to Chicago. He was considered the “Father of Texas Blues” and was very popular in the 1920’s. 

W.C Handy- Composer and musician who created the Delta Blues.
