Is AI a Tool or Too Much?
AI is useful as a blueprint but the human touch is necessary for success, as AI is more general in the information that it gives out.
However, because AI is a tool created by humans, and therefore influenced by the biases that humans hold and may inherently be placed into. Therefore, AI has the possibility to be harmful when there is not a diverse group of engineers working on the AI program.
For example, if the AI program’s main job is to recognize faces and there are no ethnic faces used in the test data when an ethnic person uses this AI program, they might get incorrect results with more European features.
As the world becomes more progressive and marginalized groups get more opportunities to be in spaces, more diverse opinions and points of view can be added to these programs, making them more accessible and open to all.
