Background Biography

Tamela Mann was born June 9, 1966 in Limestone County, Texas. Tamela Mann is the youngest out of fourteen children. As many typical artists who got their star, Tamela discovered her gift of singing from participating in the church. From there she met her lifelong friend Kirk Franklin and her husband David Mann. She began singing in a group led by Kirk Franklin and later got into acting directed by Tyler Perry. Tamela Mann has become a beacon of gospel music and is thee “Mann” in Gospel right now.

Tamela Mann started her career singing in a group with her lifelong friend and gospel legend Kirk Franklin. She sang with Kirk Franklin and the group, The Family for five studio albums.

After singing for five albums, Tamela Mann started acting. Gaining the attention of famous playwriter and directed Tyler Perry, Mann began acting in numerous of Tyler Perry’s plays and movies. Her character Cora Simmons, highlighted her talent as a solo powerhouse artist.

Current Conclusion

Finally after years of being on the big screen, Tamela returned to her first love of singing. She rebranded her self with her hit album and hit song, “Take Me To The King”. During the current times, Tamela Mann has influenced the gospel world with her voice by preaching the gospel through her music. She has brought back the old gospel music of long ranges and ring shouting but with a twist. She is a Grammy award winning singer and a wonderful actress, mother, and wife. Tamela Mann also considers herself an activism. She has participated in the numerous marches within the recent year in support of racial equality. Tamela Mann continues to spread the love of God through her actions and music.
