The Infamous Paul Robeson

Paul Robeson was born April 9, 1898 in Philadelphia, PA. His parents were escaped slaves and raised him to be the political activist and singer song writer he is remembered for today. Paul was a man of many talents. He Graduated from Rutger University as a 4 sport athlete and completed Law school at Colombia University. He then found he had a natural talent in singing and pursued performing arts.
Paul not only traveled the world to share his deep, powerful voice but he also spoke on behalf of the black community and was a well known activist. Of course this created controversy around him and he was often turned away to perform in the United States because of the racism deeply rooted in the government. So he mostly performed outside the US becoming fluent in 7 languages and continuing to push his political agenda.
