This article provides insight on the relationship between African American history and folk music. As explained by Rachel, folk music was developed by African American but later stolen by whites. Whites also took the credit for this genre of music. Folk music in America was used during days of slavery as a way for the slaves to openly express themselves. Folk music was also used as a way for slaves to communicate to one another ways that they can escape from the South. Additionally, the video attached to the article was a nice was of informing the audience of black face however, I’m not sure if it connects with the context of the article.
