“That’s all Folk… music” Review

“That’s all Folk… music” Review

This article does a great job of explaining the origin of folk music in connection with African Americans. I especially enjoy how the significance of the instruments was detailed, such as the banjo because I did not know they were the focal instrument for plantation melodies. I learned a lot about the influential folk music artists such as Harry Belanfonte and Elizabeth Cotten. The article also did a great job of connecting the music back to present day and explaining how folk music has influenced today’s african american music. I like how the article included videos of some popular songs for the reader to listen to since it is about music it makes since for us to be able to listen to some songs of the genre.
