Introduction to Techno Music

Techno music originates from Detroit, Michigan during the 1980s. Techno music can be described as a blend of different black styles of music such as funk and jazz. It is also repetitive instrumental music. This genre is like no other genre because it is created off of computers. You may be thinking how was this possible when computers were not really out then. Once computers came work began to disappear because whatever needed to be created could be sent to a computer. 

Elements and Influences of Techno Music

There are many styles that make up Techno music as mentioned above. Break beats are known because it is using old and new records to create new music. Techno’s influence ensures new music is made. George Clinton has been instrumental in influencing Techno music. 

The Creators behind the music

There are three creators behind this genre. The three creators are: Derrick May, Juan Atkins, and Kevin Saunderson. These creators each has their own talents as far as producing and creating music which makes their influence on Techno music so great. At the time this genre was created not a lot of people listened to it or had interest in it. It eventually reached to United Kingdom and they were invited to perform, and this performance lead to a record deal. 

The Legacy/ Importance of Techno Music

Techno music is here to stay now and forever. Thanks to a computer a new genre of music was created. This genre of music will forever leave a legacy to people. This genre is the most modern and very popular. There are certain parties and venues that you will hear this music and crowds go crazy. The music is very up tempo and makes you want to dance. What would the music world be without Techno music? 

Conclusion

Before this course I did not know to much about this genre. I saw it as a genre that no one really pays attention to. I did not know that the creators were black and this genre is created on computers. Now that I have learned about this genre in this course I have grown a greater appreciation for it.
