Techno

Techno is a genre that started in Detroit in the 1980’s. It is similar to disco with it’s fast tempo, but it brought in more electronic elements. The use of synthesizers is heavy within the genre. One does not need to know how to play an instrument in order to make techno, they simply just need to know how use the software. Techno could be seen from the United States to Europe to South America. Even today techno music has a huge community. With that being said, even the roots of Techno lie within African-Americans in Detroit, many white artists have been given the credit for the music. There are not a lot of evidence of African-American techno artists, since the community has since been dominated by white artists.
