It's time to get Techno-cal!

Techno is a form of electronic music produced using a wide range of computer-based digital instruments and software. Originally created in Detroit in the early 80’s, this genre of music contributed to the sound and culture of the city. Techno became a genre around the world. The people of Detroit only saw the transformation of this style of music by white people as a downside. They turned this music into “rave music” and used when a large group of people jumped around in sync. A cabaret in the Detroit techno world is a type of social gathering that is usually associated with another socially specific group of unionized workers. It was promoted as cabarets for Burlesque events, drag shows, solo vocalist with pianos, as well as locations where these shows take place. Broadway shows concentrated on cabarets and continued to flourish until the 1980s. Cabarets started to decline in popularity after that period, but elements are seen in burlesque shows and related venues in Las Vegas.  Typically in common time (4/4) Detroit techno is characterized by percussive rhythms with tempos ranging from 120 to 150 beats per minute.The accent on the back beat is the traditional Detroit disco artist style (beat 2 and 4). It is closely associated with house music in Chicago, which is characterized by slightly slower tempos. Detroit disco is always the sound of the melody. Artists included Suburban Knight, Juan Atkins and Kenny Larkin.
