TECHNO

Background 

The genre of music entitled Techno music is a form of electronic dance music. The genre was discovered during the mid to late 1980s in Detroit, Michigan. Techno music emerged from the growth and progression of technology in America. Many styles of Techno music exists, but Detroit Techno is the foundation of all Techno. What makes Techno so different than other genres, is its devotion to electric forms instruments. Techno instruments include computers, multi-track mixers, drum machines, and samplers. The strength of percussive rhythms and tempo is what makes Detroit Techno so popular. Detroit Techno infuses many rhythms, specifically funk rhythms. Black electronic music was fun and dance-able. It followed a four beat count, which makes it more dance-able.  Everyone, like in disco, danced to Techno music. The disco vibes with funk tunes and electronic beats created rhythm and movement. Techno music became the ultimate dance music of its time.

Three prominent creators of Techno music are Juan Atkins, Kevin Saunderson, and Derrick Mays. The three of them all met when they were thirteen years old. They all later created music and record labels that have blossomed Detroit Techno music.
