Tasha Cobbs Leonard

Where did it all begin?

Natasha Tameika Cobbs-Leonard was born  on July 7, 1981 in Jesup, Georgia to her late father Bishop Fritz Cobbs and mother Pastor Bertha Cobbs. At her father’s church, Jesup New Life Ministries, she was a Worship Leader for many years of her life. Years later, Cobbs-Leonard took her talents to Atlanta, Georgia, where she became a member of dReam Center Church of Atlanta. Much like her home church, Tasha lead worship weekly and managed many entities of the Worship & Arts Department. She now serves as a team pastor at dReam Center.

Cobbs-Leonard's Music Career

Tasha Cobbs-Leonard began her solo music career in the year of 2010 with her first album, Smile, and this album got her recognized by the label Motown Gospel. She would later record her freshman project, Grace which was produced by her Motown Gospel label mate, VaShawn Mitchell. This album contains many songs that are widely known in our communities. Songs such as For Your Glory and Break Every Chain were very popular and even reached Number 1 on the Hot Gospel Songs chart. Break Every Chain specifically, landed on Billboard’s #1 song for 12 full weeks. The album Grace not only sat on Billboard’s Top 10 Gospel Albums chart for a year, but it heavily influenced the gospel community and those who enjoy the feeling and authenticity of the gospel.

Awards and Accomplishments

In addition to her many albums, singles, and eps, Tasha has received many huge awards that show her influence and strength as a Gospel Artist. At the 56th Annual Grammy Awards, she won her first grammy for Best Gospel/Contemporary Christian Music Performance. She has won three GMA Dove Awards for Gospel Performance of the Year, Contemporary Gospel/Urban Song (and Album) Of The Year, and Gospel Artist of the Year. On top of this, she has also graciously received 3 Stellar Awards.

Beyond the Music

Tasha Cobbs-Leonard has a passion for mentorship and she extends her heart to her community. Because of this passion, she launched iLead Escape which is a global ministry mentorship program that helps over 2,000 mentees in knowing and using their gifts. She extended her mentorship to her debut book, Worship 101, a manual that helps those in need of revisiting the basics of worship.

Tasha Cobbs-Leonard is not only an amazing Gospel Artist, but she is a kind-spirited woman of God who strikes to make a change in her community.
