Jazmine Sullivan’s “Fearless” album is an incomparable R&B album released in September 2008. This is one of the first albums that introduced me to R&B. Jazmine has such a captivating and commanding voice that could fill up any room. Her lyrics are personal and very relatable. This album has touched me in so many ways and is still replayed on repeat today. Particularly “Lions, Tigers, and Bears” where her theme of vulnerability and empowerment is potent and effective.

Alex Isley is more than a remarkable artist. Being that her father is Ernie Isley from The Isley Brothers, she has undeniable talent. Her gentle, ethereal, dreamy voice is especially what I admire about her. I also admire her as she speaks to self-love and self discovery in her music. “String of Pearls” is a very personal, touching song as it reminds me of my mother and her unwavering love and support.

Chris Brown is a legendary artist with who’s skills as a performer and singer cannot be denied. “Heartbreak on a Full Moon” is a track with 45 songs released in 2017. “No Exit” and “Heartbreak on a Full Moon” are two examples of songs that dive deeper into emotional themes, offering glimpses of heartbreak and vulnerability that are consistent with the experiences I was going through at the time.
