SCGC X Tabernacle Choir X MCGC Concert

On September 9th & 11th, the Spelman College Glee Club, Mormon Tabernacle Choir, Morehouse College Glee Club came together for two nights of outstanding performances. The first night of performances was held at the Morehouse College King’s Chapel and the second night was held at the State Farm Arena. Fun fact I am actually a member of the SCGC and was able to perform both nights. Leading up to the performances I was nervous but extremely excited. It had always been a dream of mine to sing with SCGC since the first time I heard them. After only being a member for a few weeks I worked up the courage to audition for a solo in the widely renowned song “A Choice to Change the World”. I received this solo and I am still so grateful and honored for the opportunity to sing that solo with the outstanding Spelman Glee Club.

The concert lay out had the Mormon Tabernacle Choir singing a couple of their tour songs first and then followed up by the Morehouse Glee Club. Both did a phenomenal job and received copious amounts of applause. After MCGC it was our turn. The collegiate and elite Spelman College Glee Club was dressed to a T in our all black attire, red lips, and tear drop pearls. We sang “Wade in the Water” with an amazing solo by Krista, “Children Go Where I send Thee” led also by Krista, and lastly “A Choice to Change the World” with soloists Dana, Jewel (myself), and Ava. All of our song selections were composed by THE Dr. Kevin Johnson. This performance was outstanding and it was evident in our stage presence, vocals, and smiling faces that we definitely gave it our all. Once we finished performing our separate selections all three choirs came together to sing a couple of songs. My personal favorite was “Songs for the People” because it sounded beautiful, has a very important message, and now this message can be listened to repeatedly online forever and ever.

After the performance we were all so proud of how we did and I immediately went on my phone to watch back the YouTube livestream video. Being apart of this performance was very rewarding and made me feel so grateful for the experience. It was amazing to meet so many king hearted people and be able to perform with everyone.
