Overview

On September 9th and 11th, the Spelman College Glee Club, Morehouse College Glee Club, and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir came together for two powerful performances. The first concert was held at King’s Chapel on Morehouse’s campus, and the second took place at State Farm Arena. These performances were part of the Tabernacle Choir’s tour, bringing together a unique blend of collegiate and professional voices. The concert began with the Tabernacle Choir showcasing their rich and expansive repertoire. Following this, Morehouse and Spelman Glee Clubs each performed, culminating in a collaboration where all three choirs combined to deliver breathtaking harmonies.

Concert Review

The concert was a resounding success, leaving audiences captivated by the sheer beauty and complexity of the performances. The Tabernacle Choir, with its large ensemble, set the tone for the evening, creating a powerful and moving opening. Morehouse College Glee Club followed, showcasing their signature repertoire, and Spelman College Glee Club’s performance added a special touch with their selections, including “Wade in the Water”, “Children Go Where I Send Thee” and “A Choice to Change the World”.

The selection of “Songs for the People,” sung by all three choirs, stood out to me as a highlight of the night. Additionally, Spelman’s soloists in “A Choice to Change the World” were exceptional, allowing multiple voices to shine. An exciting and unexpected moment in the concert was the special guest appearance by renowned actress and singer Kristin Chenoweth.
