So Long, Farewell

I went into this class with a very different mind set than where I am now.  Learning about the true impact of African Americans in music has been truly inspiring. I think this is a very good class and I have taken away a lot of knowledge from it. I can say now that I am more aware of African American history through music. This class has helped to clarify things such as the circumstances of the forced work songs of slaves in the field, the true history of minstrel show and blackface and the reality of commodification. In taking this class I have gotten explanations of many things that people just assume everyone knows without ever having taught it in classrooms at all levels. For that I am grateful.
