Funk music was created by James Brown. Funk started in the 1970s. Some of the elements of funk is four on the floor beats, fast tempo, and syncopated bass lines. Most of the songs are about love and dancing. The melody of funk music is easy to remember. Funk has a connection to black consciousness like black pride, Black Panther Party, and African Diaspora. George Clinton is known to be the father of funk. Some well known songs by James Brown is Papa’s Got A Brand New Bag, Cold , Give Up the Funk, and Get on Up. Some funk artists are Earth, Wind, and Fire, Jimi Hendriz, The Isley Brothers, Rick James, Isaac Hayes, Chaka Khan, and Curtis Mayfield.
