Parliament Funkadelic

George Clinton is the founder of Parliament Funkadelic in 1964. Th group has over 40 R&B hit singles. The band orgiinally consisted of musicians Frankie Boyce, Richard Boyce, and Langston Booth plus 5 more members. George revolutionized R&B during the 70s. He was born in North Carolina on July 22nd, 1941.

he became interested in Doo-Wop while living in New Jersey.

Parliament was born in 1955. Once they ran into trouble, Clinton refused to record any new music. Instad of waiting for a settlement, Clinton used the same band with a different name of Funkadelic in 1968. In 1970, Clinton regained the rights to the Parliament’s name and signed the entire funkadelic group to Livietus Records as Parliament. Overtime, Clinton put together a collective group of over 50 musicians and record the ensemble during the 70s both as Parliament and Funkadelic.

Parliament Funkadelic scared off almost all white listeners. Clinton and many former Parliament Funkadelic members continued to tour and record throughout the 80s and the P-Funk ALL Stars. The early 90s saw the rise of funk inspired rap and funk rap that re-established the status of Clinton and Co. as one of the most important forces in Black History. Its influence has reigned heavily for artists such as MC Hammer, LL Cool J and Snoop Dogg.
