Dr. Johnson,
Thank you so much for this semester. I learned so much about our people’s history and how everything that has happened to us is incorporated into the musical genius that is behind every genre that we studied. Everything that we discussed from negro spirituals to funk, I saw the evolution through the material that you provided and I realized how Black music is all interconnected through experience and love. I cannot describe the joy that I feel knowing that that is the case. This class definitely gave me many more reasons to love my people and where we come from and where we’re going. We never stop creating and sharing our creations with the world. Thank you, and have a great summer!
