Marvin Sapp

  • American Gospel music singer-songwriter
  • Born & raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan
    • Attended Aenon Bible College in Indianapolis Indiana
  • Dropped out of college after being invited by renowned Gospel singer, Fred Hammond, to sing with Commissioned in 1991
    • Recorded with the group during the 90s before beginning a record-breaking solo career
  • Founder and senior pastor of Lighthouse Full Life Center Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan
    • Sapp’s late wife, MaLinda Sapp, also served as the Administrative Pastor at his Lighthouse Full Life Center Church
  • In 1996, Sapp established himself as a contemporary gospel solo artist and has recorded seven albums thus far
    • In 2007, Sapp achieved crossover fame with one of his most famous Gospel songs “Never Would Have Made It” from the album Thirsty which hit No. 1 in the US Billboard Top Gospel Albums (and we will talk about more when discussing his most significant works)
  • In 2009, Sapp won all seven Gospel Stellar Awards that he was nominated for
  • He was also initiated into the Grand Rapids Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity
    • Awarded honorary doctorate degrees from two non-accredited institutions
      • A Doctor of Divinity Degree from Aenon Bible College
      • Doctor of Ministry Degree from Friends International Christian University
