Jazz is a music form that was developed in New Orleans in the early 20th century. New Orleans was a very diverse city and all of the intertwined cultures led to the immersion of jazz. Jazz is a blend of ragtime, blues, and many more. Improvisation is a large part of jazz with very rhythmic sounds. It can express emotions from pain to joy that can be heard through the various instruments. Syncopation and swing are also key components.

Billie Holiday (1915-1959)
One of the most influential jazz singers of all time. Some of her popular singles include “What A Little Moonlight Can Do” and “Miss Brown To You”.
