Keeping Detroit Techno Relevant
Although the era for House music and Detroit Techno has passed, Detroit natives have found a way to keep the spirit of Techno music alive.
Lady T from back in the day, is producer of Charivari Detroit 2017 — which is an annual 3- day festival dedication to bringing together 70 house music DJs known all over the world, many of them from Detroit and returning home for the big weekend.
During the era of Detroit Techno music, The Electrifying Mojo was a major contribution to the spread of house music. He was one of the first radio hosts who played this style of music on stations, on WGPR Detroit. While this style of music has passed, WGPR still recognizes House music as an important genre, and dedicates two hour of radio time to house music. Usually on Fridays when most people are riding from work, WGPR makes sure the Detroit techno plays until they can get reach their destinations.
