The Golden Gate Quartet
A group of four performers, Willie Johnson(baritone), William Langford (tenor), Henry Owens(second tenor), and Orlandus Wilson (bass). The Group started in 1934 and lost American popularity in the 50s when they decided to expand to Europe. The Golden Gate Jubilee Quartet is responsible for creating the basis R&B beats we know and love today.

A group of four members, Donald (tenor), Harry (baritone), Herbert(tenor), and John Jr. (bass, guitar). Popular from 1928-1982, the Mills Brothers played a large role in keeping Quartet music popular in a cross over world.
Fisk Jubilee Singers
A group started in 1871 at Fisk University with the goal of raising enough funds to support the school, a historically Black university. The Fisk Jubilee Quartet is responsible for preserving a lot of the negro spirituals we know today, without their efforts the authentic voice of spirituals would be lost. Todays Fisk Jubilee Singers have a remarkable legacy to live up to.
