Jubilee Quartet

Jubilee Quartets are gospels songs inspired my negro spirituals, blues, and jazz that started in the 1960s in the height of the civil rights movement. Alfred G. King, John W. Work, and Noah W. Ryder were originators of Jubilee. The songs were created with a sense of praise and humility. A couple other quartets are fisk jub singer and golden gate quartet. It became the center of African American “social life”, in a way acting as a safe haven, infiltrating black schools in the midst of segregation.
