Music and All that Jazz

Jazz began in New Orleans, Louisiana in the 1900’s. This was due to the amount of diversity in the city. African-American musical traditions intertwined with others and thats where jazz emerged from. It was a blend of ragtime, blues, and other kinds of music. Jazz began as dancing music but eventually evolved to music people would just sit and listen to it. The evolution of jazz was led musicians such as Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, and Miles Davis.

 

Jazz developed a series of different styles including traditional jazz, swing, bebop, cool jazz, free jazz modal jazz, fusion, and hard bop. At the same time, jazz spread from the United States to many parts of the world, and today jazz musicians and jazz concerts can be found in dozens of places in the world.
