Hip Hop emerged from the African American, Afro-Carribbean, and Latino communities of the Bronx. Hip Hop soon spread to Harlem and other boroughs of New York City in the early 1970s. Hip Hop includes performance expressions such as graffiti, breakdancing and rapping. The common and celebrated aspect of hip hop is rap music.
