Folk music has a rich history and has evolved over time. It originally started as the music of the common people, passed down orally through generations. In the United States, folk music became prominent in the early 20th century. The artist would sing about daily life, work and historical events. One well known folk artist is Bob Dylan. Bob Dylan is known for his folk, rock and blues music. He started out in the 1960s with a lot of folk songs that had strong messages concerning politics and social norms. One of his famous folk songs is called “Blowin’ in the Wind”. The melody of the song is simple and repetitive and the harmony. Its a song that really gets you thinking about human condition and the struggly for justice and equality.
