The rapper, songwriter, and singer Rodrick Wayne Moore, Jr., more commonly known as Roddy Ricch, was born on October 22,1998 in Compton, California. His roots come from Louisiana but Roddy grew up in Compton and also spent some of his life living in Atlanta. Ricch began rapping at the age of 8 and began recording and making beats at the age of 16. When Roddy finally bought his own equipment, he became unstoppable and released his first mixtape, Feed Tha Streets. This tape grew in popularity and sparked exposure for Roddy to other artists, such as Nipsey Hussle and Meek Mill.
After gaining more recognition, Roddy collaborated with a popular producer, London on da Track, and created the hit single, Die Young. Roddy’s career started taking off and was featured on one of Meek Mill’s songs. In November of 2018, the rapper released his big hit mixtape, Feed Tha Streets II. Following his second mixtape release, Nipsey Hussle had Roddy feature in one of his songs, Racks in The Middle. Roddy Ricch came into the rap game ready to show his talents.

In December 2019, Roddy started peaking on Billboard charts and ended up being nominated for 3 Grammys. According to Major Labels, Roddy Ricch was first introduced by Blazer Barboza. Barboza was a Digital manager, A&R, and a songwriter. Blazer was searching for talent since 2017 for labels. Ricch got signed to Atlantic Records and made a name for himself. Roddy’s style is different that other rapper. Ricch stated that his unique style was thanks to all the different rappers and generations of rap he grew up listening to. Roddy’s said that the purpose of his music is to get his message out and live life to the fullest. He said that the inspiration behind to gaining success came from his beloved friend, who passed away due to a tragic death. Roddy said that his long term goal is to actual focus on business rather than music.
