“Another Man Done Gone” Vera Hall
The folk song “Another Man Done Gone” by Vera Hall stood out too me because of her various ways to deliver information on the injustices that black people face. In her lyrics she says that she did not know the mans name and she did not personally know the man who life had been stripped away from the white people but she does know that it is incorrect. She is using folk music as a platform to express these important themes, the song is known for its clear and devastating criticism on racial violence and injustice. She wants her audience to gain an understanding of the ways in which her music confronts and reflects societal injustices and to share important insight in the connection between activism, art, and history.
