The article “Kanye West Thanks Drake For Inspiring “Watch The Throne” In New “100 GIGS” Website Clip” highlights one of the many post Drake has been making on his website and burner IG account. This post specifically was a clip from 2013 of Kanye West at concert letting a Toronto audience know that Drake essentially applied pressure when entering the rap game. His entry caused some discourse and according to Kanye was the caused for artist like Jay Z to step up. Posting this 2013 clip in 2024 among others has been interpreted as Drakes way of showing his dominance during his beef with Kendrick Lamar. Fans feel that this post furthers the idea that Drake’s legacy will go on no matter what.

The article “Why Lil Jon’s DNC roll call reflects the power of Black music in Atlanta” reflects on the success of Atlantic music industry. Framed around Lil Johns performance at the DNC in Chicago the article highlights the Atlanta music representation in the economy and culture of society. Personally I believe that having an artist like Lil John is appealing to millennial voters and even shows that the Harris- Waltz campaign recognizes the excellence and impact of not just the ATL scene but music in general. In category that is mostly seen as entertainment it is good to see that artist are using their platforms for something good.

While the article “Rhythm and blues: How Jews promoted and popularized Black music” attempts to start a conversation on the level that ethnicity plays in society and culture, it gets lost in what feels like the article is trying to show Jewish proximity to Blackness through their role in the African American music industry. With the beginning of the article detailing some of the oppression the Jewish community face it is confusing transition to their involvement in Black music. There are abetter ways to explore the relationships between Black and Jewish communities rather than oppression.
