Earth Wind and Fire The Three Elements of Funk

Concert Report: Earth Wind and Fire and Chicago

On December 12th, 2004, in Los Angeles, California, Earth Wind and Fire, gave an outstanding performance, mixed with elements, including a plethora of instruments, solo parts, crowd interactionalism and fusion performances.  the performances featured many blossoming musicians with an assortment of unique musical combos. This was a perfect opportunity to experience such a wide variety of music, which for the novice funk and soul appreciators.  It wasn’t just the music, however; the entire performance is what created the most success. the feel of the atmosphere upbeat and energetic. There was a pleasantness and genuinity about the whole performance.

The large ensemble, instruments including bass guitar, keyboard, trumpets, saxophones, bass drums, electric guitar, bongos, African thumb piano, made one feel as if both bands Chicago and Earth Wind and Fire had been there to put on their absolute best show. The responses from the crowd were also an indication of that. There were several solo acts within the performance inclusive of a singing solo, saxophone, and bass guitar. Which not only served as great calming portion throughout that allowed for the crowd and band to regain their energy but also allowed the display of true raw talent in the flesh.

The costumes are worn in the performance also gave the audience the notion that “Earth Wind and Fire” even in their older age would still be very similar to the band they loved in their younger age. The harmonizing and instruments made it feel as if they were playing ricochet off of one another. There was also a story element in which the lead singer explained that the African thumb piano had been one of the instruments that had bonded the entire band and aided in the solidification of the group. Inclusive of this the bands both played very well with one another as the lead singer of the band Chicago also made stage presence during his duet performance of the song “That’s the Way of the World.”

Overall, the performance made a statement that promoted both fun, excitement, and harmony. The mixed elements made the concert very enjoyable even if one was not able to watch it in person.
