DISCO DOWNNN!!

The genre Disco originated from underground dance venues in New York City in the 1970s. It was very interesting to learn that DJs, gay dancers, black and Latino people are the reason for this genre because majority of these people were people discriminated against, but people still chose to listen to the genre. Disco evolved into a style involving certain dance steps paired with a specific fashion, even though it was defined as a musical setting original.

Some people argue that African Americans don’t have anything to do with the creation of the gene, but it has some funk influences, which is another African American genre. Caucasians tried to take over the genre and make it their own like they do everything else, but it didn’t work out too well for them.

By the mid-1980s, disco music was acknowledged by mainstream platforms, aside from previously being overlooked. Even though it was acknowledged for a while, it soon became old news, and people once again valued other musical genres over disco. Soon after its decline in popularity, Discothèques began to be referred to as clubs, which is where the current meaning finds its origins. Club music, which originated in Jersey, also derived from disco music. In these club settings, DJ’s played a wide array of different kinds of music.
