Description

The Spelman and Morehouse Glee Clubs performed with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir at the State Farm Arena on September 11th, 2024, truly representing their faith and talent in a beautiful show that moved spirits. The Mormon Tabernacle choir performed songs like “With Joyful Voices Sing,” “Alleluia” and “How Excellent Thy Name” to open the show, even including some culturally significant pieces such as “Gamelan.” Following, the Spelman College and Morehouse College Glee Clubs graced the stage with songs like, “Wade in the Water” and “I Ain’t Got Weary Yet” respectively. Kristin Chenoweth joined the singers as a guest performer, and there were beautiful renditions, closing with a powerful arrangement of “Til We Meet Again”

Reflection

The concert performance was truly amazing; it was not only moving but also a great technical representation on behalf of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and the Spelman College and Morehouse College Glee Clubs. The varied pieces were a great representation of the faith that these companies embody, and they showcased all of the talents that these organizations hold. I really appreciated the concert as an opportunity to build connections between the Black community and other groups of people and I also enjoyed the vocal stature of these performances.

Conclusion

Overall, this was an amazing performance that showcased so much talent, love, and faith among many groups of people, and I think it was a perfect representation of what the Spelman College and Morehouse College Glee Clubs stand for. It also represented great vocal ability and ensemble blend.
