Commodification within Blues Genre

Blues came about from the Mississippi Delta. This video was interesting in hearing how most Blues artists came from a struggle and experienced that in the songs. Most blues artists that were interviewed and talked about worked in the cotton field, and expressed what they have been through in their music. The music started from people who worked on the plantation, picking cotton, and plowing mules. The blues exemplified struggle, love, hurt, change, and hope that the ones singing wish to come. When hearing singers sing the blues, sometimes you might not be able to understand what they are saying, but the feel of the song, the bass guitar, the trembling in one’s voice, and how much feeling they put into the song can relay how one is feeling. The blues is something you can’t take away from black people, nor try and change.
