Classical Women

Throughout the Classical music timeline it seemed like classical music was very male dominated, up until the year 1932.

Florence Prince is very inspring because in a male dominated genre she made a breakthrough by herself and gained a lot of attention. Florence Prince won the Rodman Wanamaker  Prize. This award recieved her attention from famous conducter Frederick Stock. Prince also became the first African-America woman to have a major orchestra play her song.

Fo people that are very interested in classical music she is probably a very big inspiration and role model. Being just a black woman (interested in music or not) it is very inspiring that she made a way for herself in a time where it was extremely hard to be Black and a woman. Her place in the timeline made me very proud to be a black woman.
