The Take Over
Blues originally started as a genre in African American culture. It evolves the organ of African traditions and became globally popular. Blues has its roots in the rich musical traditions of West and Central Africa. Enslaved Africans brought with them a heritage of rhythmic complexity that involves call-and-response patterns, and improvisation.
An example of blues music.
It didn’t take long for blues and the adaptations of blues to hit world wide popularity. That means it did not take long for white people to steal to the genre. The British took t and ran with it. They turned it into what is known as Rock and Roll in the 1960’s. Musicians like The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, and Eric Clapton are examples of people who preformed the stolen version of blues. The British Invasion brought blues-influenced rock music to a global audience, further cementing the blues’ place in popular music history.
