History of Blues

Blues is a genre and musical form that originated amongst African Americans in the Deep South of the United States around the 1860s. The blues incorporated spirituals, work songs, field hollers and chants.

Blues music is often known for its expressive, soulful sound, often conveying themes of sorrow, longing and resilience. The genre would also involve instruments like the guitar, piano, harmonica and brass instruments.

Blues Artist: B.B. King

One really well-known blues singer is B.B. King. He would sometimes be referred as the “King of Blues”. His distinctive guitar style is fluid sting binding. “The Thrill is Gone” is one of the most popular songs by him. The song was a major hit. The lyris of the song express the sorrow and resignation of a lost love. His soulful voice and emotional playing gives the song a melancholic mood to it.
