Hip Hop is a cultural movement that has acquired widespread popularity in the 1980s and 1990s. The music style incorporated rhythmic speech that became the movements most influential and notable art form. The term “Hip Hop” refers to a complex culture which consists of deejaying, rapping, graffiti painting and B-boying. All of these encompass the Hip Hop dance, style and attitude. Hip Hop was founded by African-Americans in South Bronx in the 1970s. Old school Hip-Hop ended around 1984 due to the evolution and development of rapping techniques and rhythms. Artist that are known for their contribution to Old school Hip Hop are Melle Mel. Today, Hip Hop has invented a new sound. A sound that has evolved the musical genre. Between the years 1985-1993, this era of Hip Hop was known as the Golden Age. Hip Hop reflects the time period that which the artists are experiencing. It discusses the social issues through expression and personas using rapping or freestyle rapping.
