A Review of Folk Music: African American Legacy

Being that I was not previously introduced to Black people’s association with folk music, this article was an eye-opener. I appreciated how the videos demonstrated  the different subgenres of folk music that have roots in African and African American history. Although it may not be very prevalent today, I would have liked to see the evolution of the different genres throughout time. At times, I was questioning if all of the subgenres such as pattin’ juba and others were all happening at the same or if they were subsequent of each other. Overall, I really enjoyed the article. I was inspired and proud to see our history explored outside of what mainstream media provides.
